Tutoring · Confidence · Growth
Helping young learners grow in skills and confidence.
One-to-one tutoring for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, at your own kitchen table.
- Reception
- Year 1
- Year 2

Who it's for
Every child gets there in their own time.
Children move at different speeds, and a lot of the time they just need someone alongside them for a while. Mind & Bloom is for families who would like that someone to be an experienced teacher.
- There is a gap in their learning that has not had time to close
- Phonics or reading would benefit from extra practice
- Early writing or maths has not quite clicked yet
- They are learning English alongside everything else at school
- Their confidence has taken a knock and needs rebuilding
- They would simply do well with someone's full attention for an hour
Areas of learning
What we might work on together.
Most children need one or two of these rather than all of them. We start with what would make the biggest difference.
Phonics
Systematic practice with sounds and blending, taught the way schools teach it, until reading starts to click into place.
Reading
Building fluency and understanding, with books pitched to feel achievable rather than daunting.
Writing
From letter formation to getting ideas down in sentences a child feels proud of.
Early maths
Number sense, counting and early calculation, using objects a child can see and handle.
EAL support
Patient language support for children learning English alongside everything else at school.
Confidence
Small wins, noticed and built on, until a child feels sure of themselves again.
The approach
Small steps. Thoughtful support. Real progress.
Mind & Bloom is deliberately small. One teacher, working with a handful of families, with enough time to pay proper attention to each child.
Shaped around your child
No fixed programme to work through. Sessions follow what your child needs that week, which sometimes means going back a step and sometimes means moving on.
Taught by a primary teacher
Early years and Key Stage 1 are their own specialism. Knowing how phonics is actually taught in school matters more than general tutoring experience.
Calm and encouraging
Young children learn best when they feel relaxed. Sessions are warm and unhurried, with plenty of praise for effort rather than only for getting things right.
In your own home
Children are usually more themselves at their own kitchen table. There is no journey at the end of a long school day, and no unfamiliar room to settle into.
You stay in the loop
A short, honest update after sessions: what we worked on, how it went, and anything worth trying together during the week.
Practical next steps
Small, realistic suggestions that fit into family life — not a stack of worksheets to get through before bedtime.
A place to start
Not sure where to start?
An initial phonics and learning assessment can help identify strengths, gaps and useful next steps — before committing to anything ongoing.
- Cost
- £30 one-off
- Typically takes
- About 45 minutes, plus written feedback
- Introductory offer
- £30 rather than the usual £35. Sessions are £35 each thereafter.

Behind Mind & Bloom
One teacher, a handful of families.
Mind & Bloom is not an agency, and there is no waiting list to be assigned to whoever happens to be free. You will be working with Katie — the same person, every session.
That is deliberate. Young children take a while to warm to someone new, and the progress usually starts once they have.
Where I work
South Manchester & surrounding areas
Sessions take place in your own home, so there is no journey at the end of the school day and nothing new for your child to get used to. I travel to families across Greater Manchester.
If you are just outside the area, it is still worth asking.
Could Mind & Bloom help your child?
Let's have an initial conversation about what support they might need. There is no obligation, and no hard sell — if I do not think tutoring is the right thing, I will tell you.
